Centrica Business Solutions has announced plans to convert a decommissioned gas-fired power plant in Lincolnshire into a 50 MW battery energy storage facility in Lincolnshire, the UK.
Centrica, in collaboration with GE, has begun construction of a 50 MW/100 MWh battery system in Brigg, which will provide energy storage for the 43 onshore wind farms in Lincolnshire, maximizing the potential of each megawatt of green electricity and ensuring grid resilience.
The Brigg battery storage is anticipated to be completely operational by the end of 2023, with plans to maintain the site for 25 years.
