Capital Power has entered into a 15-year power purchase agreement with Shaw Communications Inc. for the purchase of 30 MW of the 75 MW Clydesdale Solar photovoltaic project located on privately owned land in the Municipal District of Taber, Alberta, Canada.

The contracted renewable energy is bundled with 100% of the associated greenhouse gas offsets and environmental attributes generated from Shaw Communication’s share of the facility’s generation output.

Capital Power completed the construction of the solar farm on schedule. The Clydesdale Solar facility is projected to generate approximately 170 GWh of renewable energy in the first year of operations. This renewable energy agreement represents a total carbon displacement of approximately 335,400 tCO2e, which is equivalent to taking a total of more than 102,900 cars off the road.
