The Canadian government and Cowessess First Nation have commissioned the 10 MW Awasis Solar Project on Cowessess territory near the location of the current Cowessess Renewable Energy Storage Facility.

The government has contributed CAD18.5 million (US$14 million) for the construction of the project.

The Awasis Solar Project will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 14,000 tons of CO2e in its first year and by 350,000 tons throughout its 35-year anticipated life – equivalent to the emissions of almost 70,000 gas-powered cars operated for one year.
