Microsoft has entered into a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the 543 GWh of annual energy produced from the 198 MW Paintearth Wind Project located about 40 km east of Stettler in Alberta, Canada.
The wind project, currently under construction, is owned by Potentia Renewables Inc. of Toronto (75%) and Greengate Power Corp. of Calgary (25%). The wind farm is expected to be operational by the end of 2023.
Paintearth wind farm consists of 38 turbines. Once commissioned, the project is expected to have an operational life of 30 years.
