The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) of Bahrain has begun the bidding process to hire a qualified contractor to remediate a two sq. km. dump site in Askar in preparation for the development of a 100 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Bahrain.
The project scope will include the design and construction of a landfill gas extraction and treatment system to meet the Supreme Council of the Environment's environmental standards criteria. It will also involve land remediation, development of gas and leachate management systems, installation of a drainage system, and site investigations to meet the required performance specification and environmental monitoring of the landfill site at predetermined intervals until 12 months after the site remediation is complete.
Through the Bahrain Tender Board website, bidders can acquire tender documents and submit proposals.
