Ursus Breweries, a part of Asahi Europe & International (AEI), and Enery have signed a multi-year Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) that will provide renewable energy for the production of their beers in Romania. As per the agreement, Ursus Breweries will be supplied power produced from a new solar park with a capacity of more than 50 MWp that will be built in the country.
The deal contributes to wider sustainability goals of Asahi Europe & International, which aims to become carbon neutral across all its European breweries by 2030. Asahi Europe & International is the international arm of Asahi Group Holdings, a global beverage and food company that is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in Japan. Ursus Breweries is one of the core markets of Asahi, and the partnership with Enery is expected to drive the transition to sustainable energy in the CEE region as it supports the sustainability pledges of both companies.
Enery is a provider of green electricity dedicated to supplying reliable and accessible green energy to its customers. With its diversified green fleet, Enery is currently generating over 200 GWh of clean electricity from 280 MW and is at the forefront of driving the CEE region’s transition to sustainable energy.
