Engie SA has commenced the construction of an 8.6 MWp solar project in southern Romania to aid building materials maker Compagnie de Saint-Gobain SA in fulfilling their local power demands. The project will also create Romania's largest on-site photovoltaic park.
The photovoltaic (PV) park, to be located at Saint-Gobain's glass factory in Calarasi, will be equipped with around 15,760 modules that cover an area of approximately 14 ha (34.6 acres). The plant is expected to generate over 14,000 MWh of power annually, which will solely cater to Saint-Gobain's self-consumption requirements.
Engie's involvement in this venture contributes to Romania's commitment to renewable energy sources by reducing its carbon footprint and making sure that environmental standards are met.
