Akuo has commissioned its 8.7 MWp floating solar photovoltaic power project in Cintegabelle, near Toulouse in southern France. The plant is located on Cap Vert Lake, a 19-ha man-made lake that was previously used as a reservoir and fishing area. The lake has been rehabilitated and repurposed as the setting for the new Cintegabelle plant.
The floating solar farm is expected to provide renewable energy to more than 2,000 homes in the southern region of France and significantly reduce carbon emissions by over 900 metric tons (1,000 tons) annually.
Through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), Akuo and Octopus Energy will partner to purchase the electricity produced at the new plant for the next 20 years at a guaranteed price. This long-term deal will provide security for Akuo as it continues to explore sustainable solutions and develop further technology to provide energy for communities across the globe.
