AES Tiete Energi has started the construction of portions of the 582.8 MW Tucano Wind Complex in the Bahia state of Brazil.
Brazil's environment and water resources institute INEMA has approved the construction of the 155 MW Phase I and 167.4 MW Phase II Tucano wind project.
Phase I is developed by AES Tiete in partnership with Unipar Carbocloro SA that signs a 20-year power purchase deal from the wind farm.
Phase II secures a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Anglo American Niquel Brasil Ltda for the 70 MW of the wind farm.
The two portions of the wind complex is expected to be operational by 2023 and 2022, respectively.
