ACWA Power has started the construction works for the 100 MW Nukus onshore wind farm project in the region of Karakalpakstan in Uzbekistan.
The ground-breaking comes less than two months after binding project agreements were signed with the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and JSC National Electric Grid (NEGU), the off-taker. The project has an estimated total investment of US$108 million. It is expected to reach the financial close by the third quarter of 2022.
The project will be equipped with wind turbines, each generating capacity of 5 MW, and can collectively generate enough power for about 120,000 local homes.
