Acwa Power and Nukus Wind, the National Electric Grid of Uzbekistan, have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for the 100 MW onshore wind project in Uzbekistan.
Located in the Qorao’zak district of Karakalpakstan, the project was awarded by the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan to Acwa Power under the PPP procurement model. The signed PPA is for 25 years and is valued at USD108 million. The financial impact from the deal is expected in the first quarter of 2024.
Once operational, the project is expected to generate up to 350 million kWh of energy per year, offsetting about 160,000 tonnes of carbon emission annually.
