Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power has been selected by the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan to develop and construct a 100 MW wind farm located in the Karakalpakstan region.
The company has been selected after placing the bid of US$0.025695 per kWh. Other competitors for the final round were Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC, better known as Masdar, with a bid of US$0.026550/kWh, and France’s Voltalia SA which offered US$0.03279/kWh.
The project is expected to generate up to 350 million kWh of energy per year, offsetting about 160,000 tonnes of carbon emission annually.
