The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan has announced that three firms have submitted proposals for the 100 MW onshore wind project in Karakalpakstan. The deadline for responding to the Request of Proposals (RFP), issued for prequalified bidders, was on September 6, 2021.
The following three companies have submitted the proposals- Masdar, Acwa Power and Voltalia. The authorities will proceed with a compliance check of the first bid envelope, containing commercial, legal and technical submissions, and after will make a detailed evaluation of the first envelope. Once the evaluation has been completed, the eligible bidders will be invited for the opening of the second envelope with the financial submission.
Located in the Qorao’zak district, 90 km south-east of Nukus city, the 100 MW onshore wind project is the first one of Uzbekistan's programme for the development of wind power projects under public-private partnership (PPP). The initiative is supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and includes a total energy production capacity of up to 1 GW.
EBRD has selected a team of advisors for the tender process, which includes: Synergy Consulting Infrastructure & Financial Advisory Services Inc. as a financial and lead advisor, Dentons Europe as a legal advisor, as well as Gopa-Intec and Juru Energy as technical advisors.
