ACWA Power and Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) have signed a comprehensive memorandum of understanding (MoU) proposing a potential collaboration in the development of green hydrogen/ammonia projects in the Middle East and other agreed geographies in order to decarbonize KEPCO's operations in South Korea.

Kepco plans to use the end product to operate its power plants in South Korea, provided that its generation businesses purchase the green ammonia produced by the project.

KEPCO aims to use 5-10 million tons of green ammonia by 2030, while ACWA Power has a net-zero emissions goal for 2050.
