AC Energy Corp and its partner The Blue Circle Pte. Ltd. have commenced commercial operations of the 40 megawatts (MW) wind farm in Binh Thuan, Vietnam.
The wind project features eight turbines, with a unit capacity of 5 MW, which carry the largest rotor diameter for an onshore wind project in Asia (158 meters) and are the first to use blades in two pieces assembled on site. It has a total expansion potential of up to 170 MW. The facility reduces carbon dioxide emissions in Vietnam by about 130,000 metric tons per year.
The estimated project cost is around US$70 million and was financed by debt and equity, and qualified for the wind feed-in-tariff of 8.5 US cents per kilowatt-hour.
ACEN, the listed energy platform of the Ayala Group, together with its partner AMI Renewables, have reached commercial operations for its 252 MW wind farm in Quang Binh, Vietnam.
