Ørsted, with partner T&T Group, is proposing to build a large-scale offshore wind project in Vietnam that would have an installed capacity of 3.9 GW.
The estimated investment in the project is between US$11.9 billion and US$13.6 billion. The developer has introduced its plan to a local government as the company is looking to conduct studies and site investigations in the waters off the country’s northeastern coast. The offshore wind turbines are planned to be installed 14km (8.7 miles) southwest of Bach Long Vy island, in the Gulf of Tonkin, and 36km northwest of the Long Chau archipelago.
Each of the turbines will have a height between 150- 200 meters. The facility will generate around 13.7 million MWh of electricity annually.
