Ayesa Engineering has been appointed to provide technical supervision and contract management services for the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm located in the Polish Baltic Sea.
Baltica 2 envisages the installation in the Baltic Sea of 107 wind turbines totaling 1.5 GW of power. It will cover an area of approximately 190 km² belonging to Poland, between the towns of Ustka and Choczew, and some 40 km from the coast. The promoters of this mega-project are the Polish state-owned electricity company PGE and the Danish company Ørsted. The planned investment exceeds EUR 1 billion (US$1.17 billion) and construction is scheduled for completion in November 2027.
PGE has awarded Ayesa Polska the supervision of the entire offshore part of the wind farm, including the installation process of turbines, foundations, export cables and offshore transformer stations. The company has extensive experience in Poland in onshore wind farms and photovoltaic installations, but Baltica 2 will be its first challenge in the field of offshore renewables in this country.
The 107 Siemens Gamesa SG 14-222 DD turbines that will be used are among the most advanced on the market, each with a capacity of 14 MW and a rotor diameter of 222 meters, ensuring high efficiency in energy production. This facility will generate clean electricity from Baltic wind power to meet the demand of some 2.5 million citizens. In addition to these windmills, the project includes the construction of onshore and offshore transformer stations, the laying of some 180 km of high-voltage (275 kV) power cables, and the development of a transmission infrastructure that will connect to the Choczewo power substation. An operations and maintenance base will also be built at the port of Ustka.
