Veolia has secured a development permit for the proposed 34 MWe waste-to-energy project located in Heysham, Lancashire in UK.
The facility would require an estimated investment of approximately GBP200 million (US$246.87 million), with up to 45 new full-time jobs and will support the Heysham Gateway regeneration and Heysham Energy Coast initiatives.
The project is expected to accommodate up to 350,400 tonnes of wastes per year to produce enough low carbon energy to meet the equivalent electricity requirements of approximately 60,000 homes.
The facility is expected to be operational by early 2023.
