Construction of the Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm in Scotland is planned to begin this week after a pause in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The project is a large-size 450 MW offshore wind farm that will use up to 54 units of SG 8.0-167 DD model turbines with a maximum of 208 m tip height above sea level. It is located in the Firth of Forth off the east coast of Scotland, 15 km off the coast of Fife. The facility will be capable of supplying 375,000 homes and offsets over 400,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year.
Owned by EDF Renewables and ESB, the project is expected to be fully commissioned in 2023.
