Van Oord has won the transport and installation contracts for offshore wind farms Baltic Power in the Baltic Sea and Greater Changhua 2b and 4 in Taiwan.
Van Oord is set to transport and install 78 foundations, along with two additional foundations for offshore substations, as part of the 1.14GW Baltic Power project. The installation of monopile foundations will be carried out using Van Oord's heavy-lift installation vessel Svanen, while a third-party DP installation vessel will handle the installation of the 76 transition pieces.
The Baltic Power offshore wind farm is a collaborative effort between ORLEN (Poland) and Northland Power (Canada). Additionally, for Orsted's Greater Changhua 2b and 4 projects in Taiwan, Van Oord will oversee the transport and installation of three export cables spanning approximately 175 km. The dedicated cable-laying vessel Nexus will be deployed, and Van Oord's Trencher Dig-It will ensure the cables are buried to the required depth.
The project, scheduled for commencement in 2024, is expected to conclude in 2025.
