TAQA Arabia has started the commercial operation of the 20 MW solar photovoltaic project located in Sharm El-Sheikh in the South Sinai governorate, Egypt.
The solar farm is installed on about 25 ha of land and can supply up to 30% of the power load of the Nabq tourist region. The project represents about EGP250 million (US$12.7 million) of investment.
Once operational, the plant is expected to generate up to 42 GWh of energy. The project will have a 25-year operating period.
