The New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) of Egypt has established end-2022 as the target date for the construction of a 20 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant near Hurghada on the Red Sea coast in Egypt.
The technical and economic feasibility study has already been completed by Egypt's Ministry of Electricity, and an agreement has been reached with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for a loan in the amount of US$85 million (EUR 83.06 million) to finance the implementation of the project.
All of the necessary approvals have already been obtained and NREA has finished performing the preparatory work on the site to the north of Hurghada where the power plant will be constructed.
