ACWA Power has signed a US$1.5 billion project agreement to build a 1.1 GW onshore wind farm project situated near the Gulf of Suez and Gabal el Zeit in Egypt.
The wind farm will be equipped with modern wind turbines with blade heights of up to 220 meters. Once complete, the wind farm will mitigate the impact of 2.4 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year and provide electricity to 1,080,000 households.
During the development phase, the partnership led by ACWA Power, which includes Hassan Allam Holding, will collaborate to finish the site investigations and secure investment for the project.
The financial close is expected to be achieved by Q3 2024 and the commercial operation is planned for the end of 2026.
