SSE Renewables and RES Group have signed an agreement for the acquisition of the 49.9 MW Aberarder wind project in Strathnairn near Inverness, Scotland.

Depending on the outcome of the final investment decision, SSE Renewables could begin construction of the wind farm in April 2023 and finish by November 2024.

Once completed, the Aberarder project will be able to provide enough renewable energy to power about 50,000 homes yearly and offset over 1.5 million tons of carbon dioxide throughout its estimated 25-year lifespan.
