SSE Renewables and FuturEnergy Ireland have installed the seventh and final turbine in the Lenalea Wind Farm project in County Donegal, Ireland. The project aims to contribute to Ireland’s renewable energy targets for 2030. With a capacity of 30.1 MW, the onshore wind farm is located approximately 10km outside Letterkenny.
Once operational, the Lenalea Wind Farm could provide electricity to about 20,000 Irish homes annually and help offset 24,500 tonnes of carbon emissions per year. The commissioning and testing of the turbines are scheduled to take place from August to October 2023. It is anticipated that the wind farm will be fully operational by November 2023. Following the installation phase, SSE Renewables, as the lead developer, will assume responsibility for the management of Lenalea during the operational phase.
The Lenalea Wind Farm project is expected to start generating power later this year.
