Statkraft has started construction on the 34 MW Harlockstown solar project in County Meath, Ireland. Signed last year, the multi-year power purchase agreements with Microsoft will see Statkraft Ireland supply the technology firm with 366 MW of clean energy from six of its wind and solar farms.
Through its renewable energy contract with Statkraft and the CPPAs announced in November 2022, Microsoft's procurement will result in the development of over 900 MW of onshore wind and solar energy projects.
The Irish Government's Climate Action Plan is targeting 15% of electricity demand delivery from renewable energy CPPAs by 2030, translating to an approximate additional generation of 6 TWh of electricity.
