Energia Renewables and Vårgrønn, a joint venture between Eni and HitecVision, have announced a strategic partnership to develop 1.8 GW of offshore wind projects in Ireland by 2030.
The initial focus of the partnership will be on two sites located in the North Celtic Sea and South Irish Sea. Energia has been working on the development of these sites for the past four years, and each has the potential to have a capacity of 900 MW.
In preparation for the projects, Energia has completed thorough seabed surveys and collected three years of aerial data on birds and mammals. The company is also committed to conducting detailed environmental impact assessments and engaging with local fishers and communities to ensure minimal disruption and maximum benefit to the surrounding ecosystem.
