Siltronic has signed a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Axpo Solutions AG for the procurement of solar energy in Germany. The deal will be in effect from the beginning of 2024. This enables Siltronic to cover nearly one-fifth of its electricity demand in Germany, with its two main production sites located in Freiberg (Saxony) and Burghausen (Bavaria) utilizing the green energy.
Siltronic will source the electricity from young solar parks in Germany, with an annual contract volume of 60 GWh, equaling the annual consumption of about 20,000 households. By switching to renewable energy, the company's greenhouse gas emissions are expected to reduce by 25,000 tons per year.
Siltronic has demonstrated a strong commitment to climate protection and joined the Science Based Target Initiative in 2021, setting science-based targets to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions.
