Sabah Shell Petroleum Co, a Malaysian unit of Shell plc, has announced its second investment in the Gumusut-Kakap-Geronggong-Jagus East (GKGJE) Phase 4 deepwater offshore development project in Malaysia.
Shell is partnering with ConocoPhillips Sabah Ltd., Petronas Carigali Sdn. Bhd., PTTEP Sabah Oil Limited, PT Pertamina Malaysia Eksplorasi Produksi, and others, to develop the project. The GKGJE project will revive the declining output of Kimanis crude which is a flagship export grade of Malaysia.
The first oil from the GKGJE project is expected to be extracted before the end of 2024.
