Sempra Infrastructure and ENGIE S.A. have signed a long-term sale and purchase agreement (SPA) for liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Phase 1 of its projected Port Arthur LNG project in Jefferson County, Texas, USA.
Under the SPA, ENGIE will purchase approximately 0.875 million tonnes per year (Mtpa) of LNG for 15 years, delivered free-on-board from natural gas producers whose gas has been certified by an independent third party for environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance. The agreement also allows GHG emission reduction, mitigation, and continual improvement to lower the carbon intensity of LNG from the plant.
The Port Arthur LNG project development requires commercial agreements, permits, funding, and a final investment decision, among other things.
