Infinite Green Energy (IGE) and Samsung C&T have signed a binding memorandum of understanding (MOU) containing joint development agreement terms for the MEG HP1 green hydrogen project. This plant will be built utilizing the existing 11 MW Northam Solar Farm located approximately 100 km east of Perth, in Western Australia. Samsung has agreed to invest an unspecified amount in the solar-powered green hydrogen plant.
By early 2024, the facility is expected to produce up to four tonnes of renewable hydrogen a day for medium and heavy-duty transport use. IGE has stated that there is potential to increase the solar facility's capacity to 18 MW, which could double the production capacity to 8 tonnes of green hydrogen daily.
The front-end engineering and design (FEED) stage of the project has been finished, and a final decision on investment is anticipated to occur later in 2023. Infinite Green Energy (IGE) intends to submit the development approval within the next few weeks.
