RWE has won a tender to plan and develop a wind project in the municipality of Staufenberg, in the Hessian state forest, located in central Germany. The planned project will have an installed capacity of over 30 MW and generate enough green electricity to power 22,000 households in the state of Hesse each year. The high percentage of forestry in Hessian land makes it a promising location for renewables, with clear-cut or well-developed sites being ideal for onshore wind turbines.

RWE has begun talks with local stakeholders to facilitate cooperation opportunities with EAM Natur Energie GmbH and Sonnenland eG. The collaboration aims to encourage citizens and surrounding communities to participate in the project. RWE is committed to engaging interested residents and holding information events to keep them updated with the progress of planning and development.

Operating around 90 onshore wind farms in Germany, RWE aims to strengthen its market position and increase the pace of expansion.
