RWE Renewables Europe & Australia has been awarded in New South Wales competitive tender process for the development of a 50 MW/400 MWh battery energy storage project located next to the 249 MWac Limondale Solar Farm.
The Limondale Solar Farm has been in operation since 2021. The project is made up of 872,000 panels and covers an area of 770 hectares. RWE owns and operates a solar photovoltaic plant in Balranald.
RWE plans to close the final investment decision in the next 12 months. Battery storage systems are an essential part of the energy transition as they store excess renewable energy and release it again when the energy is needed most
