Repsol, Naturgy, and Reganosa will build a 200 MW renewable hydrogen project in Galicia, Spain. The former Meirama thermal power station in Cerceda (A Coruña) will house a 100% renewable energy electrolysis facility.
The renewable hydrogen plant will have an initial capacity of 30 MW, which may be scaled up in phases to a total capacity of 200 MW. It will generate over 4,000 tons of renewable hydrogen per year in the first phase and 30,000 tons overall.
The renewable hydrogen produced will replace the conventional hydrogen now used by the Repsol refinery in A Corua for industrial purposes. Renewable hydrogen will be combined with natural gas in the gas grid for other businesses like mobility. These uses will minimize the area's carbon impact and show that renewable hydrogen can be mass-produced and distributed to consumers.
