Vestas has received an order from Naturgy to supply wind turbines for the 46 MW Somozas wind farm in Spain.
Naturgy is transforming the Somozas wind farm, replacing the 81 existing turbines with nine new units from Vestas. The order includes the supply of seven Vestas V150-6.0MW turbines and two V110-2.2MW units, which will enable the wind farm to operate more efficiently and with reduced visual impact.
The new configuration will slightly reduce installed capacity to 46.4 MW instead of the initial 49.6 MW, but will increase annual clean energy production to 168 GWh, equivalent to the electricity consumption of approximately 48,000 homes. The EUR67 million (US$76.49 million) repowering project is financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU
Turbine delivery is expected by Q4 2025 and commissioning is planned for Q2 2026.
