The Edinburgh-based Thistle Wind Partners (TWP) consortium has sought approval from the Highland Council for the onshore scoping report for its 1GW Ayre floating offshore wind farm, located east of Orkney, Scotland, UK.
TWP, a consortium comprising DEME, Qair, and Aspiravi, has presented the scoping report for onshore activities. This document delineates the necessary onshore infrastructure for the project and outlines the approach to conducting the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). The EIA findings will facilitate the submission for Planning Permission in Principle, scheduled for early 2025. The grid connection point for the project will be located in Caithness, near the village of Spittal, with a landfall point at Sinclair’s Bay, all interconnected through underground cables. The pre-FEEDS (Front-End Engineering Designs) phase for the project is currently in progress.
South Gloucestershire Council has granted approval to RES for its 25-MW Varley solar farm project located south east of Cromhall, South West England.
