OX2 has been granted a Natura 2000 permit for its 1.5 GW Triton offshore wind farm project located off the coast of Skåne in the Swedish economic zone. The permit was applied for in December 2021 and was finalized by the County Administrative Board in June 2023. The government's final approval is now awaited, and construction of the wind farm could begin by 2027, with production to commence before 2030.
The Triton offshore wind farm will feature 129 wind turbines, with a maximum height of 370 metres. The planned production of electricity from the project is estimated to be approximately 7 TWh per year, equivalent to approximately half of Skåne's annual electricity consumption. The developers, OX2 and Ingka Investments have already signed agreements with cable supplier NKT and EEW SPC for the supply of monopile foundations.
In addition to the agreements already signed, OX2 and Ingka Investments have recently signed a letter of intent with Ystad Port for the construction of an operations and maintenance base. The base will serve the Triton offshore wind farm, providing a hub for the maintenance and repair of the wind turbines.
