Ørsted has secured the final investment decision (FID) for the development of the 471 MW Mockingbird Solar Center that will be constructed in Lamar County, northeast of Dallas in Texas, USA.

The project will be installed on about 4,900 acres of land and is expected to generate enough power for up to 800,000 homes annually. In 2021, Ørsted has signed a 10-year corporate power purchase agreement with Royal DSM for the energy that will be produced in the Mockingbird project.

The construction of the plant is expected to start in January 2023 with a target commissioning in 2024. Ørsted plans to develop up to 17.5 GW of onshore capacity and 50 GW of renewable energy globally by the end of 2023.
