Orsted and Nuveen Infrastructure, the owners of the Gode Wind 3 offshore wind project in Germany, have successfully initiated power generation with the installation of the first turbine.
This 11 MW turbine was installed on April 23 in the construction area located approximately 32 km off the coast of Norderney. The installation was carried out by Cadeler's recently upgraded wind farm installation vessel, Wind Osprey. Orsted has stated that the newly implemented turbine model, the SG 11.0-200 DD from Siemens Gamesa, holds the distinction of being the largest turbine in the German North Sea. It boasts a rotor diameter of 200 meters. Over the next few weeks, an additional 22 turbines will be installed and commissioned as part of the project.
The project's electricity is routed into the offshore substation of the wind farm, which was installed last year. From there, it is sent to the converter station owned by the transmission system operator (TSO), TenneT.
