Okumuragumi to build biomass plant in Ishikari Bay

Okumura Corporation, a company located in Numata City, Gunma Prefecture, has participated in the hunting biomass power generation project with Shin Energy. To operate this project, a special purpose company, Ishikari Shinko New Power Energy Power Company Limited, was established. The companies acquired the equity stake of Shin Energy and has concluded an equity transfer agreement.

Okumura and Shin energy will jointly develop this project, start construction in November 2019, start operation in October 2022.

The project is located in Otaru City Ishikari Bay New Port area (Ishikari Bay New Port Industrial Park) site of approximately 50,000 square meters. The project will be a biomass-cooked thermal power plant with power generation output of 51,500 kW (51.5 MW) at 5 ha.

The project will use wood pellets and PKS (Palm palm kernel shell) for fuel. This project has received FIT certification. The total amount of electricity generated is sold to Hokkaido Electric Power Company. 20 years after the start of operation, Hokkaido promised to buy at a fixed selling price of 24 yen/kWh)
