NTT Facilities has announced that it has held a completion ceremony for the 14.25 MW Minami Soma Kawabo solar power plant, located in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. NTT developed the project in partnership with Kitoshiba Electric Co., Ltd.

Construction began on 24 May 2017, with the plant first generating power on 1 October 2018. The plant will generate approximately 15,900 MWh a year, the general electricity consumption of about 4,400 households.

The project has been partially funded by a subsidy from the Reconstruction Promotion Council of Fukushima Prefecture, established to regenerate the economic activities of the areas greatly damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake and nuclear disasters. A portion of the project company's profits will be used for reconstruction support projects in 12 municipalities.
