Neoen SA, in partnership with Electricidade de Mocambique (EDM), has started the construction of the 41 MWp Central Solar Metoro project in Ancuabe district, in Capo Delgado province, Mozambique.
The project represents a US$56 million investment with Proparco, a financial arm of Agence Française de Développement (AFD), to provide US$40 million in the form of debt.
The project is built in about 138 ha (341 acres) of land and it is expected to generate enough electricity to supply up to 175,000 local homes, once operational.
Central Solar Metoro project is under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with EDM. Efacec Power Solutions is in charge of the construction of the project.
