120 MW wind farm in Namaacha enters construction

The construction of the first wind power plant in Mozambique is currently underway in Namaacha district in the southern province of Maputo.

The private infrastructure, worth about US$280 million, is expected to have the capacity to produce an average of 120 megawatts of wind energy for the state electricity company Electricidade de Mocambique (EDM).

The wind farm, owned by Eleqtra, is anticipated to be completed in three years.
