FuelCell Energy, Inc. and Oando Clean Energy Limited (OCEL) announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate on the development of a 5 to 15-megawatt (MW) power plant in Nigeria.
Apart from FuelCell Energy's fuel cell and electrolyzer tech, the agreement explores the potential use of FuelCell Energy's carbon capture and sequestration technologies. Unlike other methods, these platforms can produce power and capture carbon dioxide simultaneously without requiring additional energy. This MOU is a key part of OCEL's efforts to enhance electricity access in African markets, starting in Nigeria, through low-carbon renewable energy sources. FuelCell Energy's solutions aid utilities and power producers in transitioning to net zero, enhancing grid reliability with zero particulate emissions and improving on-site power generation for increased grid resilience.
