Nigeria has approved the construction of the 1,650 MW Zungeru hydropower project with a US$3 billion investment, as the country's economy suffers from low power output and poor transmission infrastructure, forcing many homes and companies to rely on diesel generators.
The project would be funded through a public-private partnership and located in the state of Benue.
In Q1 of 2023, the Nigerian government will give a concession for the operation of the hydroelectric power plant.
The Bureau of Public Enterprises has issued a Request for Qualifications for the 700 MW Zungeru Hydroelectric Power PPP project in Zungeru Town of Niger State, Nigeria.
