MCA Group has completed construction and started the commercial operation of two solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in Angola with a combined capacity of 285 MWp.
The two projects are the 189 MWp solar PV farm in Biópio, Catumbela, which consists of 509,000 solar panels, and the 96 MWp Baia Farta solar facility in Benguela, which is composed of about 261,000 solar panels.
The two facilities form part of the seven solar plants set with a total capacity of 370 MWp located in the provinces of Benguela, Huambo, Bié, Lunda-Norte, Lunda-Sul and Moxico that are expected to be operational by the end of 2022. The seven plants will provide renewable energy to approximately 2.4 million people.
