The joint venture (JV) between Italian oil and gas major Eni SpA and Angolan state-controlled peer Sonangol has taken the final investment decision (FID) for the first phase of the 50 MWp solar photovoltaic project in southwestern Africa.
The 25 MWp Phase 1 of the Caraculo solar photovoltaic (PV) project will be developed by Solenova Ltd in Angola’s Namibe province. Solenova has also signed a contract to deliver the engineering, construction, and procurement (EPC) services for the project.
The entire project is expected to be operational by the fourth quarter of 2022.
