The Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) has chosen LS Power to construct, own, manage, and maintain Hiple to Indiana/Michigan State Border (HIMB), a double-circuit 345 kV transmission line in Northern Indiana, USA.
The project is a competitively bid initiative from MISO's Long Range Transmission Planning (LRTP) Tranche 1 portfolio that has been approved by MISO's board of directors in 2022. Republic Transmission was chosen for the project after a competitive selection process that included considerations of cost and design, project implementation, and operations and maintenance, among others.
The HIMB project is expected to bring significant benefits to Northern Indiana, including improved grid reliability, greater access to renewable energy, and enhanced economic development opportunities. Construction work is expected to begin in the near future, and the project is targeted for completion in 2025.
