Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan Board (OTPPB) has reached a strategic partnership with Sevana Bioenergy LLC to acquire a majority stake in the business and commit US$250 million to develop RNG projects across North America. The partnership will help increase the production and use of RNG by reducing organic waste through large-scale biogas projects.
Sevana has executed various dairy and organics projects, including over 20 digester tanks in agricultural regions like Oregon, Idaho, and South Dakota since its inception in 2017.
Kirkland & Ellis LLP acted as legal counsel to OTPPB in the transaction, and Fredrickson and Byron served as legal counsel to Sevana.
