Japan Renewable Energy (JRE) has started the construction of a 33.6 MW wind project in Aomori prefecture.
The JRE Shichinohe Towada Wind Farm is installed in the municipalities of Shichinohe and Towada. It be powered by eight turbines of 4.2 MW each that are expected to generate some 113 million kWh annually, enough power to meet the annual demand of some 31,400 local households. The facility will help the avoidance of 58,890 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year.
Completion is scheduled in November 2021.
Tohoku Electric Power Co Inc will buy the output of the project with an operational life of 20 years.
